Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security that helps protect your user account from unauthorized access. By enabling MFA, you will be required to provide a second form of identification, in addition to your password, when logging into your account.
Setting Up MFA
To set up MFA for your account, follow these simple steps:
Go to your profile (click username at the top right). You will see a section called Sign in options, Multi-factor authentication.
You will need an Authenticator app downloaded on your phone. If you already have one, go to the next step, otherwise go to your phone's App Store and download one.
Click Add authenticator
Scan the QR code on the screen with your phone's Authenticator app. (Look for the + icon in the app to scan QR code)
Once you've scanned the code, you'll see a 6 digit code on your phone. Enter that into Preno to complete the setup. Click Enable.
Re-enter your password you use to sign in to complete the setup.
For account admins, you can see each user's MFA status at a glance from Settings > User management — the MFA column shows App, or None for every user.
Why Use MFA?
MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account, making it more difficult for hackers to gain access. By requiring a second form of identification, even if someone manages to obtain your password, they will not be able to access your account without the additional verification. For example, the 'Reveal Stored Cards' feature relies on MFA to provide the necessary security for accessing sensitive data.
We highly recommend enabling MFA for all user accounts to ensure the safety and security of your data.
Final Thoughts
Your Preno account holds important business and sensitive guests information, so it is important to take all necessary precautions to protect against unauthorised access. By setting up MFA for your account, you are taking an important step towards securing your user login and preventing unauthorised access.
