Set Up Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) in Google Authenticator

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Preno using the Google Authenticator app.

  1. Open the Google Authenticator App on your mobile device.

  2. Tap on the + (plus) icon to open the QR scanner.

  3. Tap on Scan a QR Code. The scanning function in Google Authenticator will open on your mobile device.

  4. In Preno, hover over your name in the top-right corner of the screen and select Profile.

  5. Click on Add Authenticator.

  6. Enter your Preno password and click on Verify.

  7. Scan the QR code with your Google Authenticator App.

  8. Google Authenticator will create an account for Preno and a code will be displayed. This code refreshes every 30 seconds.

  9. Enter the code into the Verification Code field displayed in Preno. Press the Enable button to confirm.

  10. Backup codes will display on screen. Copy or Download the codes and save them somewhere safe and easily accessible if needed in future.

  11. Click on the Done button to continue.

  12. In Preno, you will see that an Authenticator App has been added:

    If you are using the same device to access Preno and set up Google Authenticator, you will not be able to scan the QR code. Follow these steps to set up MFA using the setup key instead

  1. Open the Google Authenticator App on your mobile device.

  2. Tap on the + (plus) icon to open the QR scanner.

  3. Tap on Enter a setup key.

  4. Enter an account name (Preno) in the Account name field.

  5. Go to Preno, hover over your name in the top-right corner of the screen and select Profile.

  6. Click on Add Authenticator.

  7. Enter your Preno password and click on Verify.

  8. Look for the link beneath the QR Code that says: Can't scan the QR code? Show Setup Key.
